The Redemptive power of the blood of Jesus

Blood Of Jesus
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ.

It was a rather dull morning in Jerusalem, Israel, 2000 years ago. The sun shone, but not in all its grandeur, faithfully doing its duty. The air seemed heavy-with anticipation of what would happen next. Every creation of the Lord waited in abated breath, for this day, would change the history of mankind, forever.

Our Lord Jesus was going to be crucified.

Lord Jesus walked staggeringly, carrying a very heavy cross on His back. His back ripped mercilessly, bleeding profusely and his flesh baring his bones. His wounds still very fresh and raw from the intense 39 lashes he had just received. Every whiplash that pounded His body, had strong and pointing iron nails, crushed bones and sharp glass pieces that jabbed and dug into His flesh- latching on firmly, refusing to leave His body.

The Romans did an extremely competent job of whipping the Lord. They had only one motive- to kill the Lord with their heavy beating.

But this whip was no ordinary one-it was designed to kill the Lord, maker of heavens and the earth.

As the stubborn nails held on to the Lord’s bare flesh, the romans pulled the whiplash off of the body of the Lord, tearing them ruthlessly. He rendered the blows on the Lord, over and over again, till he was finally exhausted. The Lord’s face, body was deformed beyond recognition-torn and bleeding.

The Lord’s ordeal had just begun.

I was transported back in time, to see the eventful day that changed the course of mankind-eternally.

As this gory scene unfolded before my eyes, like a live event, I was overwhelmed by the undying love of our Lord Jesus for us.

I saw Lord Jesus fall on the ground, with a 60kg heavy wooden cross on His back. His feet could not support the heavy weight of the cross, and the wooden cross rubbed against His bleeding wounds.

The Lord fell to the ground, face down, breathing heavily from His mouth into the dust of the ground. His breath raked up brown dust particles, sending it into the air and settling down on my face, which was close to His. The dust mingled with His blood and coated His body. His breathing was heavy, and the Lord gasped for breath.

A huge crowd that showed up, stood on the either side of what looked like a pathway, leading up the hill. Some of the women who stood there, covered their faces, unable to see this gory state of the Lord. Others, raved and ranted, throwing their fists in the air, shouting abuses and hurling insults- men and women alike.

These were just in the background and seemed blurred and fading, as I saw the Lord face a few inches away from mine, which was the only thing I was focussing on.

The background noises completely died to my ears, and all I could hear were the drops of blood of the Lord, fall on the dust of the ground, like drops of water leaking from a tap. The sound of the Blood seemed louder than any other noise around.

The legions of majestic Angels stood around the Lord, helplessly, in great grief and pain. They bowed their head down and clasped their hands together, unable to do anything to help the situation.

There were so many emotions that was displayed there and the atmosphere was charged with mixed vibes.

I looked at the face of the Lord Jesus. I could feel His head throbbing with pain from the crown of thorns piercing His head, deep inside. Every cell in His body cried out in pain beyond words can describe. Yet the Lord looked so calm and composed. So unfazed with the things happening to Him and around Him.

All of the Lord’s attention was only one thing – you and me. Lord Jesus was brutally focused on the love for His children, His Bride. Nothing else mattered to Him at that point, not even His life.

How can someone love so fiercely? What are we, that He loves us so much?

This encounter turned deeper as I saw the Lord reveal what was in His heart.

An Angel of the Lord, stood next to Jesus, with a large, thick open book of life in his hands. This book had many pages and each page was very large and bright with rows and rows of written text.

In every drop of the blood that Lord Jesus shed, He saw the face of His beloved one.

As your face appeared before Lord Jesus, your name appeared in the grand book which the Angel held. Your name that appeared in the book was in letters that were shimmering in bright gold light.

The Angel of the Lord then took that specific drop of the blood of Jesus which had your face, on his forefinger and smeared it over your name that was written in the book.

This continued till each and everyone one of us were “redeemed by the Blood of the Lord Jesus”, even before we were born.
